Saskatoon Open Door Society News


On December 19th, 2014 at the Cosmo Civic Centre, the Saskatoon Open Door Society’s Men’s programme held its first ever Immigrant Men’s Event.

Bringing roughly 80 Newcomer Men within Saskatoon together, participants and Open Door staff enjoyed the live musical stylings of a local Burmese band, presentations by Open Door’s Executive Director Phil Anton. Language Training Unit manager, Henri de la Garde spoke about his experience as an newcomer in Japan, while former Men’s Immigrant Program participant Solomon Meshesha spoke about his time in the program, the benefits he received and the friendships he fostered which have and continue to supported him daily. (To see the photos from the event,click here.)

The event was a great success and Open Door hopes to host similar events in the future.
