Saskatoon Open Door Society News

Saskatoon Open Door Society, Settlement & Community Services, recently participated in a three phase pilot project entitled Moving Stories YXE Bus Tour. This collaborative project showcased the personal stories of Indigenous, refugee and immigrant artists. The stories were developed and shared along an 8 week media storytelling workshop with the support of the City of Saskatoon, the University of Saskatchewan, the Saskatoon Open Door Society and other community organizations and advisors. On December 18th, the Global Day of Action against Racism and the Rights for Migrant, Refugees and Displaced Peoples, the storytellers led a bus tour of Saskatoon by sharing stories of displacement, violence and suffering but also stories of security, home, community and hope. The stories were an inspiration to look at the community’s perception of the city, and neighbours from different backgrounds.
