A story has recently circulated among news outlets that the Saskatoon Open Door Society (SODS) has petitioned the Canadian federal government to accept 10,000 refugees from Gaza into Canada. This story is inaccurate and misleading, as the petition in question is strictly a citizen’s petition and was not submitted by or is in any way associated with this organization.
No media organizations have approached SODS for comment.
SODS is a settlement agency with a long-standing mission to assist newcomers to Canada to become participating members of an inclusive and diverse community and country. We are committed to assisting any and all refugees and immigrants to Canada, regardless of their country of origin.
