Youth Programs

Provides schoolwork assistance programs, social networking activities, sports activities and other various groups and sessions to assist, involve and engage immigrant youth in their new community. 

Youth Study Group: This after-school academic tutoring is offered in select Catholic, Public and French schools, and focuses on advancing student newcomer academics through tutoring in subject areas such as math, social studies, science, English and computer sciences.

School Buddy Program: Based at elementary schools, student volunteers are partnered with newcomer students for friendship, support, and an introduction to their school. Located at selected Public and Catholic schools in Saskatoon.

Youth Social Networking: Composed of various activities which engage newcomer youth to communicate, learn, and interact with other newcomer and Canadian youth.

Youth Sports Activities: Provides youth with physical activities/sports which meet the several levels of need that the newcomer youth require. These activities range from the introductory/drop-in level to the highly competitive/organized level.

Youth Empowerment Workshops: Afterschool activities such as woodworking, drumming and art workshops aimed at developing skills and building confidence. Delivered in partnership with White Buffalo Youth Lodge.

Youth Hosting Youth Program: Connects Canadian youth with newcomer youth to learn about Canada, community resources, social activities and practice English. Activities are once a month from October to May, during lunchtime at selected Public and Catholic High schools in Saskatoon.

Creating Youth Culture: Recruits and trains high school youth to deliver diversity workshops to elementary-level students.

Annual Voice of Youth Summit: Held annually to bring youth and the community leaders together to jointly address youth issues. Youth are involved in the planning of the event and this promotes their leadership and organizational abilities.
